THE SCHOOLHOUSE PROGRAM
The Schoolhouse is a unique school for adult refugees & asylum seekers in Israel, one of Israel’s most marginalized and underserved communities. Since our founding in 2012, the Schoolhouse has specialized exclusively in education for Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) and has developed unique expertise and services to serve this community of learners. Each semester, approximately 200 students enroll in our courses, which include English language and literacy, Hebrew literacy, computer skills and technological literacy, video and photo editing, and GED test preparation.
The Schoolhouse was created in order to develop adult education and skills adapted to the particular needs of these communities and in January 2012 the first English class began with the support of HIAS and Windows for Peace.
