Humanitarian Aid
Our Current Programs
Accommodation and Intensive Support
At the height of the humanitarian crisis in 2007, the ARDC operated as many as 10 shelters at one time to cater for the sudden increase in the number of asylum seekers arriving. Today, however, we run only two hostels: one exclusively for pregnant women, including rape victims, and new mothers and the other for single parent families. These hostels can accommodate up to 12 mothers with young babies and 60 parents and children respectively. All of our residents receive secure accommodation, food, clothing and medical care. We focus on developing an individual self-sufficiency plan and them find long-term housing solutions and employment. We provide ongoing support when residents move out of the shelter into independent accommodation.
Food & Emergency Aid
Our volunteers provide practical assistance and emotional support to refugees and asylum seekers to minimise their risk of homelessness.
We provide impoverished refugee and asylum seeker families and individuals with nutritious food, baby formula, blankets, hygienic products and clothes.
Medical Assistance
We escort sick or injured asylum seekers and refugees to hospitals or clinics to ensure that they receive treatment and that they have the necessary medical supplies.
